MISSION STATEMENT

"To offer excellent coffee by employing the use of the best processing methods
while honoring traditional Hawaiian husbandry that protects the land and its’ mea kanu
.
"

Ahh Kona, the ocean, the flowers, the birds, the mountains, the volcano and the coffee. This is where the smoothest and most renowned coffee in the world is grown.  I’m not sure which is the best, the views of the Pacific, the doves cooing, the smell of flower blossoms or the odor of coffee roasting on the breeze. Oh yeah, it’s the coffee roasting!!

Welcome to Cornerstone Farms, home of Kona Lisa Coffee. Our little corner of paradise is located in the Kona coffee belt on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The morning sun, afternoon clouds, frequent rain and lava soil create the perfect growing conditions for coffee to thrive. If you are visiting we are on your way to  Kealakekua Bay, the Captain Cook Monument, the Painted Church or the historic Place of Refuge just off Napo’opo’o Road. Our farm is on the corner of Painted Church and Middle Keei Roads. While you are in the neighborhood stop by and see what's in season!

A little about us. We are the proud new owners of Cornerstone Farms, having recently purchased the property from Dick and Ginny. I am Ron (the bean picker) and my wife is Mary.  We previously hail from Michigan where we were state employees for our careers and then lived a few years in East Tennessee where we spent our short lived retirement. I did a bit of handyman work for myself, daughters and friends while Mary did some work at the Tennessee Theater. While vacationing in Kona with friends we were intrigued by the idea of coffee farming. What is most interesting about coffee farming is that it seems so simple (not easy). Compared to most farming little equipment is used in raising coffee as most of the work is plain old manual labor. Right up my alley!

So far all of this may sound like the perfect life but there were a few bumps in the road to paradise. Mary had to give up some grandchildren time - we do plan to have them visit. Like all grandchildren they are smart and talented but we need to see how much coffee they can pick!   I, on the other hand had to give up my quest for running a marathon in all 50 states as well as a great group of friends and running partners.

We hope you find our coffee as smooth, rich and mellow as we do. It may take a few days before you can appreciate how much lower the acidity level is than your regular coffee. You can brew it much stronger and it does not leave the bitter after taste that I was used to. A word of caution here, be careful as after drinking Kona Lisa coffee for a few days you may get hooked!
